Daughter Stabs Mom To Death After Being Evicted From Victim’s Home

Takeyia Guthridge is in jail after allegedly stabbing her mother, Delois Adu, seven times in Clayton County, Georgia soon after being evicted from the victim’s home. The tragic incident took place after Adu asked a judge to evict her daughter from her home. The judge granted the eviction notice and gave Guthridge seven days to leave. The two went home and that is when the daughter, according to Clayton County police, stabbed her mother seven times. Police say the stabbing was triggered by the mom’s refusal to give her daughter money. Adu’s 16-year-old son reportedly saw the whole incident. A neighbor, Herb Ross, says the son “doesn’t want to remember what he saw.”

Guthridge did not respond kindly to the eviction, saying that her mother knew she was moving back home unemployed. Furthermore, Guthridge said that if she were tossed out on the street and killed, her body would be returned to her mother.

Adu’s death is a tragedy that the victim’s friend and neighbor, Herb Ross, feels could have been prevented.
“(Deputies) should have sent an officer over here and moved her out, but they didn’t'” Ross said.
However deputies said that Adu did not submit paperwork requesting assistance. According to Ross, Adu wasn’t afraid of what could happen after an eviction was granted.
‘My wife asked her, ‘Don’t you want some protection?’ She said ‘No, it’s in God’s hands.’”
Guthridge is being held without bond.
