Chef Cooks And Serves His Own Genitals At Public Banquet - Photos

Chef Cooks And Serves His Own Genitals At Public Banquet - Photos
On Sunday, April 13, Tokyo illustrator Mao Sugiyama (who goes by the nickname “HC”), publicly seasoned and braised his own genitals on a portable gas cartridge burner, and then served them to five eager diners who each paid about $250 for the meal (a sixth was a no-show). The genitals had been returned to the asexual Sugiyama, frozen and double-bagged in plastic, following elective genital removal surgery on his 22nd birthday in early April.

After initially considering eating them himself, Sugiyama offered the meal on Twitter in mid-April to the first person willing to pay 100,000 yen (about $1,250). But after the notoriety that his tweet caused, he organized a public banquet, dubbed “Ham Cybele – Century Banquet,” at the “Asagaya Loft A” event space in the Suginami Ward of Tokyo. “Century” in Japanese is a homophone for the Japanese word for “genitals”; “Ham Cybele” refers to the Anatolian mother goddess, prefixed with an appropriate word for tough meat to create a phrase whose initials match Sugiyama’s artist name of HC.

The day before the event Sugiyama tweeted, “I’m starting to thaw them out,” and posted this photo (warning: not for the squeamish). On the day of the event a crowd of about 70 mostly twenty-somethings gathered, five to a table, to listen to a piano recital and panel discussion before the dinner.

Although only five servings of the genitals were available, the other diners were served alternate beef- and crocodile-based dishes. The cooking was done by Sugiyama himself, dressed as a chef, under the supervision of a licensed food preparation specialist.

The five genital eaters comprised a 32-year-old male manga artist (there for “research”), a 30-year-old white-collar couple (who were “curious”), an attractive 22-year-old woman (who wondered how it would feel), and 29-year-old event planner Shigenobu Matsuzawa, who tweeted before the event, “It’s a once in a lifetime chance, so I decided on the spur of the moment to do it.” Matsuzawa posted a detailed blog post on April 14 after the banquet, including about 20 photographs (the source of our photos here). He boasted on Twitter that he was getting twice the traffic he’d gotten when his blog was once profiled on prime-time Japanese television. But on May 19 he suddenly deleted the post and replaced it with a new post explaining that the removal was due to privacy considerations. Sugiyama himself had linked to and seemed to endorse the blog post, so there appears to be more to the story than is apparent.

Diners were required to sign a waiver releasing Sugiyama and the event organizers from any liability arising from the consumption of the genitals. Sugiyama stated that before his operation he had been tested to be free of any venereal diseases (although during the panel discussion he admitted that he had gone on a one-month sex binge with anonymous internet partners just to make sure he wouldn’t regret the operation). He stated that he had not yet started receiving female hormone therapy the time of the operation. He also added that the pre-severed penis could attain an erect length of 16.1 cm (about 6.3 inches).

Close-up photos of the braised genitals showed a sliced penis shaft with clearly visible corpora cavernosa and urethra, a sliced testicle with the look and texture of sea urchin sushi, and scrotal skin with about 3 mm of pubic hair growth. Rounding out the presentation the chef garnished the genitals with button mushrooms and Italian parsley.

Sugiyama told the tense but giggly crowd during the pre-dinner interview that he would be contributing his genital recipes to the Japanese recipe website Cookpad.com. (Note: A photo from Sugiyama’s Twitter stream of two large, meaty balls together on a plate has been misidentified by some websites as his testicles. They are actually beef steak cubes that Sugiyama used to develop his recipe before the real event.)

Sugiyama had also intended to include his nipples on the menu, but his attempt to burn them off with sodium hydroxide did not result in anything usable.

What was the verdict by the eaters? According to the deleted blog post by Matsuzawa, the hard, rubbery penis root almost bent his fork, and he spit it out after a few chews. The only taste was of the red wine that it had been pre-stewed in. The scrotum was surprisingly even harder and more rubbery than the penis, but tasteless. (Matsuzawa didn’t mention the pubic hair.) The testicles were hard on the outside, soft and glutinous in the middle, with a fishy or gamey taste. One of Matsuzawa’s friends in attendance asked for a piece of the penis and ate it, but after the event became distraught and expressed regret that he had lost his common sense in the heat of the moment.

A spokesman for the Suginami police told CalorieLab that they had received many inquires and complaints from concerned citizens, but that they were unable to pursue the matter because there is no law prohibiting cannibalism in Japan. Nevertheless, the spokesman said, “We’re going to talk to the people at Asagaya Loft A and ask them what is going on and why they hosted such an event.”

Sugiyama is cheerfully answering questions from curious Twitter members about Ham Cybele, his operation, and especially his new corset, which he’s wearing to help maintain an androgynous shape as his female hormone therapy progresses (the hormones are for “health purposes”). He tweets that his surgery cost him 1 million yen (about $12,500). He reports that video of the Ham Cybele event was taken and that it and a written “Ham Cybele Official Report” will be available at a later date.

The original tweet that started this is reproduced below:

[Please Retweet] I am offering my male genitals (full penis, testes, scrotum) as a meal for 100,000 yen [$1,250]. I’m Japanese. The organs were surgically removed at age 22. I was tested to be free of venereal diseases. The organs were of normal function. I was not receiving female hormone treatment. The length at full erection was 16.1 cm [6.3 inches]. First interested buyer will get them, or I will also consider selling to a group. Will prepare and cook as the buyer requests, at his chosen location. If you have questions, please contact me by DM or e-mail.

[We used the male singular pronoun "he" throughout this post. Sugiyama self-identifies as asexual, neither male nor female, and aspires to be so devoid of sexual features that he will be able to publicly wear transparent clothing. Sugiyama appears to fall into the gender nullification class of male-to-eunichs sometimes called "smoothies," those eunuchs who have elected to remove their penises and nipples in addition to their testicles, without replacing the removed organs with surgically created female organs. There are proposals to create a new pronoun for asexuals, which we reckon will happen around the time that asexual restrooms appear in Walmart.]

Update: Tokyo residents can meet Chef Sugiyama in person on Friday May 27 at the Abilletage corset shop and tea salon from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The shop is on the third floor of the AM/PM convenience store building on Meiji Douri street between the Shinjuku Station Southern Plaza exit and Yoyogi Station of the Yamanote Line. Sugiyama will be cooking and serving waffles certified to be free of genital material. In addition, he will be selling books of his illustrations and demonstrating nail art techniques.

Woman Tases Boyfriend And His Lover After Catching Them Cheating In Bed

Eva hartman tases boyfriend caught in bed cheating
Hennis pleaded with Judge Hurley to go easy on the mother of his child, saying that she is a great mom.

Eva Hartman of Florida caught the father of her child in bed with another woman and made sure both he and his mistress felt her pain.
And we mean literally feel her pain.
The Daily Mail reports that Hartman, 34, allegedly yelled “You and I just had sex last night” before tasing the father of her child, Alvin Hennis, with her key-chain stun gun as he lay butt naked in bed. Hartman chased his lover, Cordelia Rose, outside of the house.
Rose was getting into her car before Hartman caught up with her and tased her in the neck.
Neither Rose no Hennis were seriously injured as the strength of the stun gun was reportedly too weak to cause major damage.
Hartman was arrested and charged with battery. It is not known what kind of gun Hartman used. She did not have a permit for it, however. During Hartman’s hearing, Hennis took the blame for the entire situation.
“It was pretty much my fault,’ Mr Hennis told Broward Court Judge John Hurley at Hartman’s hearing.
“We were supposed to do something together that morning, and I forgot. I went to my house, and things happened.”
‘She is a beautiful mother, a hard worker and very responsible. I think she got emotional by what she saw,’ Mr Hennis told Judge Hurley.
‘I could imagine things could get very emotional,’ Judge Hurley answered.
‘Oh, things got very emotional,’ Mr Hennis said. ‘Very emotional.’
He apologized for his actions, adding that he forgot to lock the door to the master bedroom.
‘That probably was your first mistake,’ Judge Hurley said.
Tell us about it! Hartman was free on $2,500 bond and ordered to stay away from Rose.

Naked Man Shot Dead By Cops While Eating Man’s Face

Man captured lying on Florida highway after eating man's face

A Miami man was shot to death by police yesterday afternoon after he was found eating another man’s face, reports the Miami Herald. Even as he was hit by repeated shots, he kept gnawing at his victim’s face, whom sources say is now barely recognizable.
The bizarre and tragic incident occurred right outside of The Miami Herald offices, near a ramp leading to MacArthur Causeway and witnesses to the incident took pictures as others called police
The Miami Herald reports:
According to police sources, a road ranger saw a naked man chewing on another man’s face and shouted on his loud speaker for him to back away. Meanwhile, a woman also saw the incident and flagged down a police officer who was in the area.
The officer, who has not been identified, approached and, seeing what was happening, also ordered the naked man to back away. When he continued the assault, the officer shot him, police sources said. The attacker failed to stop after being shot, forcing the officer to continue firing. Witnesses said they heard at least a half dozen shots.
The naked man who was killed lay face down on the pedestrian walkway just below the newspaper’s two-story parking garage. Police have requested The Herald’s video surveillance tapes.
The other man was transported to the hospital with critical injuries, according to police. Their identities were not released.
Miami PD is calling the officer who shot the man a “hero” and used this as cautionary tale that “a man doesn’t have to be armed to be dangerous”:
“There are other ways to injure people,’’ said Sergeant Altarr Williams, a Homicide Unit supervisor. “Some people know martial arts, others are very strong and can kill you with their hands.’’
According to the Herald, police speculate that the man may have been in the midst of “cocaine psychosis” when he stripped to cool off and the victim was a homeless man in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Brothers Sentenced To Death In Separate States

Berget Brothers

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Rodney Berget lives in a single cell on South Dakota’s death row, rarely leaving the tiny room where he awaits execution for bludgeoning a prison guard to death with a pipe during an attempted escape.
For Berget’s immediate family, his fate is somewhat familiar. He is the second member of the clan to be sentenced to death. His older brother was convicted in 1987 of killing a man for his car. Roger Berget spent 13 years on Oklahoma’s death row until his execution in 2000 at age 39.
The Bergets are not the first pair of siblings to be condemned. Record books reveal at least three cases of brothers who conspired to commit crimes and both got the death penalty. But these two stand out because their crimes were separated by more than 600 miles and 25 years.
“To have it in different states in different crimes is some sort of commentary on the family there,” said Richard Dieter, executive director of the Death Penalty Information Center, which tracks death penalty trends.
The siblings’ journey from the poverty of their South Dakota childhood to stormy, crime-ridden adult lives shows the far-reaching effects of a damaged upbringing — and the years of havoc wrought by two men who developed what the courts called a wanton disregard for human life.
Rodney Berget is scheduled to die later this year, potentially ending the odyssey that began when the two boys were born into a family that already had four kids.
A former prison principal described Rodney as a “throwaway kid” who never had a chance at a productive life. A lawyer for Roger recalled him as an “ugly duckling” with little family support.
The boys were born after the family moved from their failed farm in rural South Dakota to Aberdeen, a city about 20 miles away. Roger arrived in 1960. Rodney came along two years later.
His farming dreams dashed, patriarch Benford Berget went to work for the state highway department. Rosemary Berget took a night job as a bar manager at the local Holiday Inn.
The loss of the farm and the new city life seemed to strain the family and the couple’s marriage. When the family moved to town, “things kind of fell apart,” Bonnie Engelhart, the eldest Berget sibling, testified in 1987.
Benford Berget, away on business, was rarely around. When he was home, he drank and become physically abusive, lawyers for the brothers later said.
By the 1970s, the couple divorced, and Roger and Rodney started getting into trouble. Roger skipped school. Rodney started stealing. Soon, they were taking cars. Both went to prison for the first time as teens.
Roger Berget enjoyed a rare period of freedom in 1982 and met a woman while hitchhiking. The two started a relationship, and the woman gave birth to a child the next year. But Roger didn’t get to see his son often because he was soon behind bars again, this time in Oklahoma. And for a far more sinister crime.
Roger and a friend named Michael Smith had decided to steal a random car from outside an Oklahoma City grocery store. The two men spotted 33-year-old Rick Patterson leaving the store on an October night in 1985. After abducting him at gunpoint, they put Patterson in the trunk and concluded he would have to be killed to prevent him from identifying his captors.
They drove the car to a deserted spot outside the city and shot Patterson in the back of the head and neck, blowing away the lower half of his face.
A year later, Berget pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to death on March 12, 1987. An appeals court threw out a death sentence for Smith, who was later sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Less than three months after Roger was sentenced to death, Rodney Berget, then 25 and serving time for grand theft and escape, joined five other inmates in breaking out of the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.
The men greased their bodies with lotion, slipped through a hole in an air vent and then cut through window bars in an auto body shop at the prison. Berget was a fugitive for more than a month.
Thirteen years passed before Roger Berget was executed by lethal injection on June 8, 2000. His younger brother was still in prison in South Dakota.
Then in 2002, the younger Berget was released. His sister and her husband threw Rodney his first-ever birthday party when he turned 40.
But the good days were numbered because a year later, he was sentenced to life in prison for attempted murder and kidnapping. He headed back to the South Dakota State Penitentiary — this time for good.
Then Rodney got to talking with a fellow inmate named Eric Robert about a goal they shared: to escape — or die trying.
The plan was months in the making. The inmates figured they would corner a solitary guard — any guard would do — and beat him with a pipe before covering his face with plastic wrap.
Once the guard was dead, Robert would put on the dead man’s uniform and push a box with Berget inside as the prison gates opened for a daily delivery. The two would slip through the walls unnoticed.
On the morning of April 12, 2011, the timing seemed perfect. Ronald “R.J.” Johnson was alone in a part of the prison where inmates work on upholstery, signs, custom furniture and other projects. Johnson wasn’t supposed to be working that day — it was his 63rd birthday. But he agreed to come in because of a scheduling change.
After attacking Johnson, Robert and Berget made it outside one gate. But they were stopped by another guard before they could complete their escape through the second gate. Both pleaded guilty.
In a statement to a judge, Rodney acknowledged he deserved to die.
“I knew what I was doing, and I continued to do it,” Berget said. “I destroyed a family. I took away a father, a husband, a grandpa.”
His execution, scheduled for September, is likely to be delayed to allow the State Supreme Court time to conduct a mandatory review.
Rodney Berget’s lawyer, Jeff Larson, has declined to comment on the case outside of court. Rodney did not respond to letters sent to the penitentiary.
The few members of the Berget family who survive are reluctant to talk about how seemingly normal boys turned into petty criminals and then into convicted killers of the rarest kind: brothers sentenced to death.
Dieter, of the Death Penalty Information Center, said some families of the condemned remain involved in appeals. But others see no reason to preserve connections.
“There’s no light at the end of it,” he said. “What happens at the end is execution.”

Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend is Abducted, Set on Fire and Shot

Detroit pregnant woman abducted, set on fire and shot.

A nine months pregnant woman, 22, survived being abducted, set on fire and shot. Her ex-boyfriend, also 22, — and father of the unborn child — is being questioned, reports the Detroit News.

The ex-couple had gone to a drive-in movie, and she was returning him to the home of his new girlfriend when the incident occurred, according to Warren Police Commissioner Jere Green.
“He opened the detached garage and told her to pull in,” Green said. “She did and before she could turn the car off, he closed the garage door behind her. Someone grabbed her by the neck and put a gun to her head.”
The primary motive being considered at this moment is paternity, according to the News.
After her hands, feet and mouthed were duct taped, the woman was forced into the backseat of her car and driven to an abandoned lot. “You know why this is happening,” the unknown assailant told her after asking her how far along she was. He then covered her with lighter fluid and threw a lit match on her, reports the News.
“She instinctively jimmies her way out of the car and starts rolling on the ground to put out the fire,” Green said. As she was attempting to put out the fire, two shots were fired at her, one hitting her in the back, before she stopped moving.
“She said she basically played dead and she thinks that’s what saved her because she heard the guy run away.”
After freeing herself, she immediately drove to her mother’s house because she believed she was in danger. According to the woman, her mother was held at gunpoint at her baby shower earlier this month.
While Detroit authorities are unsure of exactly what role the ex-boyfriend played in the attempted murder of his future child’s mother, they have no doubt that he was involved in some capacity. He claims that he has no idea what happened because he was asleep, which conflicts with his ex’s story.
“We’re pretty confident he viewed the abduction. He never called 911,” Green said.
A spokesperson for Detroit Receiving Hospital says the woman is listed in serious condition, recovering from burns to her head and back. Due to give birth in three-weeks, ultrasounds show that the child is unharmed, reports WXYZ.com.
The ex-boyfriend, who has a criminal past including vehicular theft, drugs and armed robbery, remains in custody.
Unfortunately, if police determine that he is involved in this horrific crime, he would not be the first man to attempt to literally destroy a woman carrying his unborn child.
As previously reported by NewsOne, Dominic Holt-Reid, on supervised release after serving 20 months in federal prison stemming from a 2007 drug conviction, pled not guilty to an attempted murder charge after authorities accused him of trying to force his girlfriend at gunpoint to have an abortion.
Waiting until they dropped their 5 year old child at school, Holt-Reid reached into the glove compartment of the car and aimed a loaded .45 caliber handgun at girlfriend Yolanda Burgess because she refused to go through with a scheduled abortion. Forced to enter the clinic, she was able to slip a note to an employee and escaped the ordeal physically unscathed.

Did Usher Sleep With Tameka’s Bridesmaid?!

Usher and Tameka child custody

In yet another twist in the child custody case between pop star Usher Raymond and ex-wife Tameka Foster, things got more than uncomfortable after a lawyer accused the pop star of sleeping with Tameka’s bridesmaid during their marriage.
RELATED: Usher Sheds Tears In Court Over Tameka’s Bad Dad Allegations
During court proceedings on Wednesday, Usher sat on the stand, accusing Tameka of constantly changing nannies.
What came next clearly shocked the star.
Tameka’s lawyer apparently justified Tameka’s change of nannies by asking Usher if one of the nannies was forced to leave Miami, “because you were discovered in bed with Maya Fox Davis?” Davis was a friend and bridesmaid of Tameka, according to close friends of the former couple.
Once the lawyer unloaded the bombshell, Usher appeared speechless for several moments afterward. Usher’s lawyer wisely objected to the line of questioning.
Right before that, the atmosphere was already tense, because Usher rehashed an alleged spitting incident he had with his ex-wife. Echoing his testimony from Monday, Usher said Tameka flew into a jealous rage, when he came to her house with his new girlfriend. She allegedly said, “I’m gonna kick your ass. Bitch get out of the car. How dare you bring this woman into my subdivision in my house?”
Afterward, Tameka allegedly hit and threw food at him, but saved her best behavior for last by spitting on his girlfriend.

Bill Clinton In Photo Threesome With Porn Stars At Charity Event

Former Commander-in-Chief Bill Clinton, whose roving eye got him in a whole heap of trouble back when he was President of these United States, has now been photographed, sandwiched between a couple of porn vixens, reports the New York Post.

Clinton was co-hosting a gala Wednesday evening with Prince Albert of Monaco to benefit the Prince Albert II of Monaco and the William J. Clinton Foundations.

The event drew folks from all walks of life, including A-listers Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson

Clinton, who wore a smile as big as…well…his pockets, was flanked by porn stars Brooklyn Lee, 22 (right) and Tasha Rain, 23 (left).
Lee is quite the accomplished thespian. She is the proud recipient of the highly coveted 2012 AVN Award for best new starlet and she also won an award for “Best Sex Scene” in the highly acclaimed film “Mission Asspossible.” Lee tweeted about her attendance at the gala and of her er…brush with Clinton. Rain’s illustrious film credits include ”Baby Got Boobs 8″ and “Farm Girls Gone Bad.”
Even though ‘Slick Willie’ is photographed with these busty babes, let’s not assume that he had improper relations with any of them. I repeat, “He did not have sexual relations with these woman!”

Drug That Killed MJ Now Being Used For Death Penalty

Michael Jackson propofol missouri

Yikes! Propofol, the drug that ended Michael Jackson‘s life and was administered by current jailbird Dr. Conrad Murray, is now being used in the state of Missouri as the drug of choice for those who are on death row, according to TMZ.

In Missouri, those on death row used to be put to death with a three-drug combination, but now, authorities have decided to use a large dose of propofol as the means to the end.
Propofol slows one’s brain and nervous system activity. Originally, it was used in hospitals as a general anesthesia during medical procedures.
Last November, Dr. Murray was found guilty of second-degree manslaughter for killing pop icon Jackson, after administering a cocktail of the aforementioned propofol and mild sedatives. Among other things, it was ruled that Dr. Murray was amiss in giving Jackson the powerful drug in an unmonitored environment. It was also determined that he should have known not to mix the already lethal anesthetic with any other drugs.
Dr. Murray lost his medical license and is currently serving a four-year sentence at L.A. County Jail, with other fallen stars singer James DeBarge and ex-Met baseball player Lenny Dykstra. As for Missouri and its new drug of choice, 19 inmates are reportedly on deck to receive it.

Michelle Obama Says She Would Trade Places With Beyoncé

When asked by People Magazine, who is the one person in the world she would be if they could trade places, First Lady Michelle Obama said — wait for it — superstar Beyoncé Knowles.

“Gosh. If I had some gift, I’d be Beyoncé, I’d be some great singer,” said arguably the most popular, accomplished and beautiful woman in the world. “The power of music, being able to play an instrument…It looks like musicians just have the most fun.”
The love-fest between the First Ladies of the Obama and Carter families have long openly expressed their love and admiration for each other. From Beyoncé’s teary rendition of “At Last” in 2009 at President Obama’s Neighborhood Inaugural Ball, to the “Video Phone” singer’s open letter to the FLOTUS on Twitter (see below), to which Mrs. Obama responded, “@Beyonce Thank you for the beautiful letter and for being a role model who kids everywhere can look up to. –mo,” they have proven to be stead-fast in their appreciation of each other.

The First Lady, in addition to revealing that she’d be the bootylicious diva in a heartbeat, discusses her book, “American Grown,” about the White House Kitchen Garden, reports the Daily Mail. She also shares the First Couple’s evening ritual:
”We live above the store, which means 6.30pm is dinner. The first half hour, we’re talking to the girls, then we shoo them off to go walk Bo and catch a little check-in without the kids.
‘We have a ritual where he tucks me in, because I’m usually in bed before anybody. He’ll come and turn the lights out and give me a kiss and we’ll talk. He’s like, “Ready to be tucked?” I’m like, “Yes I am.”‘

Parents of two slain Chinese students sue USC

The parents of two USC graduate students slain near the campus last month have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the university, saying the school misled them when it claimed that it ranks among the safest in the nation.

Ming Qu and Ying Wu, both 23-year-old electronic engineering students from China, were fatally shot April 11 while sitting in a parked BMW in the 2700 block of Raymond Avenue. No arrests have been made, but Los Angeles police say they believe the killings were the result of a robbery gone wrong.

On Wednesday, Wanzhi Qu and Xiahong Fei, Qu's parents, and Xuyong Wu and Meinan Yin, Wu's parents, filed the lawsuit in a downtown Los Angeles court, seeking unspecified damages.

Their attorney, Alan Burton Newman, alleges in the lawsuit that USC inaccurately claimed on its website that it "is ranked among the safest of U.S. universities and colleges, with one of the most comprehensive, proactive campus and community safety programs in the nation." The suit notes that USC says it provides 24-hour security on campus and in surrounding neighborhoods.

The suit says USC "provided no patrolling" in the neighborhood where the shooting occurred. After the killings, USC persisted with a "clearly misleading" portrayal of safety, reiterating in a letter to the campus community that crime "is low compared to other areas of Los Angeles," according to the lawsuit.

In response, USC attorney Debra Wong Yang said the university is "deeply saddened by this tragic event, which was a random violent act not representative of the safety of USC or the neighborhoods around campus. While we have deep sympathy for the victims' families, this lawsuit is baseless and we will move to have it dismissed."

Yang said that USC offered the victims' families financial assistance as a "gesture of kindness and sympathy" but that the parents were instructed by their attorney to decline it.

She also said that the university security net can stretch only so far and that the killings occurred three-quarters of a mile from campus in the third tier of security, where officers respond to incidents but do not patrol. She said she believes that the courts will find in the university's favor.

The suit alleges that USC actively solicits students from China for its graduate programs and receives a "substantial sum" in tuition to help fund the university.

Promotional materials in China refer to USC's "urban" setting, but the lawsuit said that would be interpreted by Chinese students as a sign of safety because historically in China, urban areas are safer.

The Adams-Normandie neighborhood where the shooting occurred ranks 27th out of 209 L.A. neighborhoods for violent crime, putting it in the top fifth of most violent areas, according to a Times analysis of crime data.

After the killings and the shooting of a robbery suspect by a USC security officer, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck announced that he would add 30 officers to the station that patrols USC's surroundings. He also said that the city attorney would assign a special prosecutor to the area and that new security cameras would be installed.

Retired LAPD detective arrested in death of wife six years ago

A retired LAPD homicide detective was arrested this week in the fatal beating of his wife in Hawaii six years ago. He had been a suspect since her death.

Dan DeJarnette, 59, was taken into custody without incident Monday night at his home on the Big Island in connection with the slaying of his wife, Yu Dejarnette. He appeared in a Hawaii courtroom Tuesday to face formal charges.

He said at the time of her November 2006 death that he had awakened and found her lying on a lava embankment about 20 feet from the couple's home in Ka'u on the southern end of the island. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

DeJarnette told patrol officers that his 56-year-old wife had been hurt in an accident. But an autopsy determined that she died from head trauma. DeJarnette was booked on suspicion of murder — and then released because of lack of evidence.

But authorities took another look at the case in January. After additional investigation that included testing of DNA evidence, prosecutors secured an indictment against DeJarnette from a Hawaii grand jury, according to sources familiar with the case. They declined to be identified because the investigation is ongoing.

He is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.

The indictment comes only days after former LAPD Det. Stephanie Lazarus was sentenced to 27 years to life in prison, with the possibility of parole, for killing her ex-boyfriend's wife nearly three decades ago in a fit of rage and jealousy.

LAPD Lt. Andy Neiman, a department spokesman, had no immediate comment on the DeJarnette case because he said DeJarnette was retired and the LAPD was not handling the criminal investigation.

After joining the LAPD in 1982, DeJarnette worked as a homicide detective at the Van Nuys Division and investigated rape cases while assigned to the department's Robbery Homicide Division-Rape Special Section.

During his tenure, he handled several high-profile investigations, including a fatal Christmas night shooting at an Echo Park pizza parlor in 1990, the 1993 stabbing death of a woman and her unborn baby at an automated teller machine in Sherman Oaks, and a 1981 cold-case murder of a newlywed in her Sherman Oaks home by a serial rapist.

DeJarnette moved to Hawaii after his retirement in 2003.

In a 2009 interview with the Associated Press in a story about high unemployment in Hawaii, DeJarnette mentioned that he had worked for the LAPD but not his previous arrest.

"I get kind of bored sitting at home," DeJarnette told the wire service, noting that he wanted to pay down some of his credit cards. "My wife passed a couple years ago, and now I'm waiting every day for the mailman to come, so I need to work."

Woman gets life in prison for murder plot of her boyfriend

Nanette Packard-McNeal

Newport Beach woman who arranged for a former NFL player to kill her wealthy boyfriend in a 1994 plot to collect $1 million in insurance money was sentenced Friday to life in prison.

But sentencing for onetime New England Patriot linebacker Eric Naposki was continued to Aug. 10 after he refused to leave his courthouse holding cell. The prosecutor called Naposki's actions "a final blaze of no class and cowardice" by the man who fired six gunshots into the chest of Bill McLaughlin, who died in his Balboa Coves home.

Nanette Packard-McNeal seemed devoid of emotion as McLaughlin's family members took turns berating her during sentencing.

"Your one life has been a complete and utter waste," one of the businessman's daughters told Packard-McNeal. "An abomination," she added.

McLaughlin's brother dismissed Packard-McNeal as "a true black widow."

Jurors had convicted Packard-McNeal, 46, and Naposki in McLaughlin's slaying, part of an alleged plot to cash in on the man's $1-million life insurance policy.

Portrayed as a femme fatale and manipulator, Packard-McNeal was living with McLaughlin and spending and stealing his money while dating other men, prosecutors said during the trial.

Prosecutor Matt Murphy said Packard-McNeal had to kill McLaughlin because it was only a matter of time before he realized she was cheating on him or stealing his money.

But her attorney, Mick Hill, argued that his client had the perfect setup with McLaughlin — he was rich, was largely absent and owned a nice home — and wouldn't want to ruin it by eliminating him.

The slaying had been one of the more perplexing unsolved homicides in Orange County until Naposki and Packard-McNeal were arrested in 2009.

The ex-football player, who at the time of the slaying was working as a bouncer at the Thunderbird nightclub in Newport Beach, was accused of entering McLaughlin's home with a key Packard-McNeal had provided.

McLaughlin's 24-year-old son, upstairs at the time of the shooting, told police he heard the shots and then found his father's body. He said the intruder was gone.

Businessman McLaughlin was well known in medical circles for inventing a prototype blood-filtering device for collecting plasma.

Packard-McNeal, who once cut a striking figure in the courtroom, appeared haggard, the blond streak in her brown curly hair faded. She wore a pink cardigan, black shirt and black skirt, and she didn't face McLaughlin's family as they spoke.

Murphy said Packard-McNeal had been using contraband hair dye to maintain her appearance.

"Jail," the prosecutor said, "has not been kind to her."

Mother shocked by daughter's alleged murder plot against her

Alleged murder plot against mother in Hesperia
Angelica Aquirre is overwhelmed with emotion inside her tiny mobile home in Hesperia after talking about an attack that was allegedly planned by her 13-year-old daughter. (Phil Willon / Los Angeles Times / May 23, 2012)

HESPERIA — Worried that her daughter may be on drugs, or worse, Angelica Aquirre did what any parent of a rebellious 13-year-old might do. She cracked down, set a curfew and thought about moving closer to her family in Mexico.

Now a distraught Aquirre is left wondering whether she was too harsh. Her daughter on Wednesday was in a juvenile detention facility in Apple Valley, accused of hatching a murder plot with two of her middle school friends.

The target: her mother.

"I don't know what to say. I just can't believe it," Aquirre said, weeping as she sat at a kitchen table in the family's tiny mobile home, a framed picture of Jesus on the wall.

Aquirre said she was in bed asleep early Tuesday morning when two attackers, strangers, broke into the trailer and began pummeling her.

"I thought they were robbing me," she said in Spanish. "Then I saw my daughter was missing."

Aquirre called police to report her daughter missing, but omitted the attack, according to police. By late Tuesday, detectives with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reached a disturbing conclusion: They believed her daughter had plotted the attack with two friends at Ranchero Middle School, a 14-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl.

"She just said that her daughter was gone, that she'd run away with two other kids," sheriff's spokeswoman Susan Rose said.

About 6:30 a.m., after her daughter had been found, the mother realized the gravity of what had happened and reported that "kids tried to kill her," Rose said.

"There were three different means of attack," she said, declining to elaborate because the incident remains under investigation. "We don't really know the motive. We just believe it was more in line with the curfew and friends."

Because all three suspects are juveniles, their names have not been released by sheriff's officials. The Times is keeping the name of the daughter confidential.

Aquirre said her troubled relationship with her daughter soured further just over a month ago. Afraid her daughter was using drugs, she called the police. Her daughter, who denied it, ran away but returned a short time later.

Then, over the last few weeks, Aquirre noticed her daughter wasn't eating and appeared ill in the mornings. Aquirre worried that she might be pregnant. The girl denied it. That's when Aquirre, whose husband works as a long-haul trucker and is rarely home, imposed a curfew and she told her daughter the family may be moving back to Mexico.

"I don't want to be here anymore," Aquirre said.

Those mother-daughter travails were laid bare in a hand-drawn Mother's Day card from just nine days before the attack. Decorated with simple hearts and crude stick figures, the card was filled with pleas in Spanish for forgiveness and understanding.

"Mom, I know that we don't get along well and I shout at you. Please forgive me for what I did to you, that I yell and tell you that I don't love you, but yes I love you," the daughter said in the card. "I hope you can forgive me. I promise that I will behave well. Happy Mother's Day."

Talk of the alleged murder plot swept through Hesperia, a high desert community of 90,000 north of the San Bernardino Mountains, and filled the halls at Ranchero Middle School on Wednesday, the last school day of the year. Television news trucks greeted students and their parents as they drove through a choking desert dust storm to the campus.

Fake Rape Claim, Woman Confesses 10 Years Later

Rape conviction dismissed
an Banks, with his attorneys, is overcome with emotion in the courtroom. When he heard from the alleged victim last year, “I stopped what I was doing and got down on my knees and prayed to God to help me play my cards right.” (Bob Chamberlin / Los Angeles Times / May 24, 2012)

Brian Banks logged onto Facebook last year, and a new friend request startled him.

It was the woman who, nearly a decade ago, accused him of rape when they were both students at Long Beach Poly High School.

Banks had served five years in prison for the alleged rape, and now he was unemployed and weary. So he replied to Wanetta Gibson with a question: Would she meet with him and a private investigator? She agreed.

At the meeting, which was secretly recorded, Gibson said she had lied. "No," she was quoted as saying, "he did not rape me."

That admission set off an extraordinary chain of events that culminated Thursday morning. A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge dismissed Banks' conviction, ending 10 years of turmoil in a hearing that lasted less than a minute.

Banks, 26, bowed his head and trembled, his eyes flooding with tears. His girlfriend, Pamela Soladar, yelped with joy. They made their way to each other and embraced; Banks was too overwhelmed to speak.

"You made it," she whispered to him.

It had been a long, maddening journey.

In the summer of 2002, Banks was considered a top college football prospect. A 6-foot-4, 225-pound middle linebacker at Long Beach Poly High, Banks said he had been courted by USC, UCLA and other football powerhouses.

He was attending summer school, and asked his teacher for permission to leave class so he could make a phone call, according to court papers. Then Banks, a senior, ran into Gibson, a sophomore.

Banks said they fooled around, but that their sexual contact was consensual. His mother, Leomia Myers, believed him, and said she sold her condo and her car to pay for his defense.

"I knew I didn't raise my son to do something so horrendous," she said.

Gibson's version shifted over the years. She could not be reached Thursday for comment.

Initially, court papers show, she told a classmate in a note rife with misspellings: "he picked me up and put me in the elevator and he took me down stairs and he pulled my pants down and he rapped me and he didn't have an condom on and I was a virgin now Im not." Gibson later told authorities a similar, more detailed story.

But when she testified during Banks' preliminary hearing, Gibson faced the rigorous questioning typical in sexual assault cases. She changed some details and added others, Banks' attorneys alleged in court documents.

Banks had a choice: He could take the he said-she said case to trial and, if convicted, risk being sentenced to 41 years to life in prison. Or, as his lawyer advised, he could accept a plea deal.

Banks pleaded no contest to one count of forcible rape, spent five years in prison and, upon his release, was forced to register as a sex offender and wear an electronic monitoring bracelet. At one point, he begged the California Innocence Project in San Diego for help, but he was told that without new evidence, there was nothing its attorneys could do.

"It's been a struggle, it's been a nightmare," he said. "It's more than I can describe, the things that I've been through."

Meanwhile Gibson and her family sued the Long Beach schools. They settled the case for $1.5 million. Gibson's mother, Wanda Rhodes, could not be reached Thursday for comment.

Terminator 3 star Nick Stahl still missing

The Los Angeles Police Department has confirmed that Nick Stahl - who played John Connor in ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’ - is still missing.

Missing... Nick Stahl with wife Roseann (Credit: PA)His wife, Roseann Stahl, said her estranged husband was last seen in downtown Los Angeles on May 9. She reported him missing on Monday.

The actor – who played John Connor in the ‘Terminator’ sequel and also had roles in ‘Sin City’ and ‘The Thin Red Line’ – was involved in a custody battle with Roseann over their 2-year-old daughter Marlo.

In February his wife filed court documents requesting Stahl be denied unsupervised visits with their daughter because she feared he was using drugs, and that his visits were limited to just 8 hours a week.

Stahl, 32, was also in trouble with police in March for failing to pay an $84 taxi fare.

Sources told gossip site TMZ that the actor had recently been seen in Los Angeles’ Skid Row’ district, which is known for its homelessness and drugs.

Stahl took over from Edward Furlong to play freedom fighter John Connor in ‘Terminator 3’. The film received mixed reviews but made more than £270 million worldwide. Bizarrely, Furlong also had his own well-documented battle with drink and drugs. He’s been arrested several times, most recently in 2011 for violating probation.

Stahl has also appeared in HBO series ‘Carnivale’, Oscar-nominated drama flick ‘In The Bedroom’ and crime show ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’.

HIV DEVELOPMENT: FDA Panel OKs 1st Rapid, Take Home HIV Test

fda panel approves take home hiv test OraQuick

WASHINGTON — American consumers may soon be able to test themselves for the virus that causes AIDS in the privacy of their own homes, after a panel of experts on Tuesday recommended approval of the first rapid, over-the-counter HIV test.

The 17 members of the Food and Drug Administration advisory panel voted unanimously that the benefits of the OraQuick HIV test outweigh its potential risks for consumers. While the test, which uses a mouth swab to return a result in 20 minutes, does not appear to be as accurate as professionally-administered diagnostics, panelists said it could provide an important way to expand HIV testing.
The FDA will make its final decision on whether to approve the product later this year, weighing the opinion of the panel.
Government officials estimate one-fifth, or about 240,000 people, of the 1.2 million HIV carriers in the U.S. are not aware they are infected. Testing is one of the chief means of slowing new infections, which have held steady at about 50,000 per year for two decades.
Based in Bethlehem, Pa., Orasure has marketed a version of OraQuick to doctors, nurses and other health care practitioners since 2004. When used by professionals, the test is shown to accurately identify both carriers and non-carriers 99 percent of the time.
But a trial conducted by the company showed the home test only correctly detected HIV in those carrying the virus 93 percent of the time. The FDA estimated the test would miss about 3,800 HIV-positive people per year, while correctly identifying 45,000, if approved for U.S. consumers. The test could prevent 4,000 new transmissions of the virus annually, though the figure could vary depending on how many people purchase the test. While it’s not clear why the test was less accurate in consumer trials, company researchers said they expected the test’s sensitivity to drop when used by consumers versus professionals.
Panelists stressed that the test’s labeling should state that a negative reading does not automatically mean the person does not have HIV, because of imperfect results. Panelists also stressed the importance of a toll-free number to put those who test positive in touch with counseling and medical care.
Despite concerns about less-than-perfect use by the public, the panel overwhelmingly sided with more than two dozen HIV advocates and doctors, who said the test represents a step forward in combating the virus.
“Over-the-counter testing has the potential to reach a far greater number of people who want to know their HIV status on their own terms,” said Tom Donohue, founder of HIV awareness group Who’s Positive.
“We are always looking for game changers, and we believe this is one of them,” said Carl Schmid, deputy director of the AIDS Institute. “Not only will it help reduce the number of infections but it will bring more people into care and treatment.”
Tuesday’s meeting was the second time in less than a week that FDA advisers recommended approval of a novel medical product to slow the spread of HIV. Last Thursday a similar panel of drug experts endorsed the HIV daily pill Truvada for preventive use. If FDA follows the group’s advice, the daily medication will become the first drug approved to prevent healthy people from becoming infected with the virus.
The FDA has already approved other HIV test kits designed to be used at home, although those kits – which require a blood sample – must be sent to a laboratory for development. Orasure executives argue that a test that can be done at home will appeal to a much broader group of people.
FDA officials said it is impossible to predict how widely the test would be used, but it would be most effective in the hands of people at high risk of acquiring the virus, including men who have sex with men.
A recent survey of gay and bisexual men cited by public health officials found that 84 percent would test themselves more frequently if they could buy an over-the-counter HIV test.
Orasure sells its professional version of the test for $17.50, though company executives declined to discuss how they would price the consumer version.

Mom Stabs Babies’ Daddy To Death Over Cheap Mother’s Day Gift

paige parkerson stabs kids father over cheap mothers day gift

Paige Parkerson of Beaumont, Texas has been charged with first-degree felony murder for allegedly stabbing her children’s father over a cheap Mother’s Day gift, the Houston Chronicle reports

The father, Clifton “JR” Barkin, was dropped off at home around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night by his mother, Evetta Wright, after she drove him to a local Wal-Mart to purchase flowers and a Mother’s Day card for Parkerson.
But on Monday morning, Wright says she got a phone call from Parkerson saying that she had killed her son. The Houston Chronicle has more:
“Paige told me she killed JR, that he was dead,” Wright said through sobs.
Wright said she sped back over to her son’s house, but it was too late.
Barkin, 22, was stabbed several times and died just after midnight Monday in the backyard of his yellow rental house. Wright said she believes Parkerson expected a more expensive gift, such as jewelry.
Parkerson and Barkin’s children were sleeping in another room when the incident took place. They were unharmed. Parkerson is being held in Jefferson County Jail on $75,000 bond.

Fake Booty Doctor Ordered To Stand Trial Over IIlegal Butt Injections

PHILADELPHIA — A woman who calls herself the “Black Madam” has been ordered to stand trial in Philadelphia on allegations she administered illegal buttocks injections.
Forty-two-year-old Padge Windslowe is charged with aggravated assault and deceptive practices.
At a preliminary hearing Wednesday, an exotic dancer testified that she paid $1,000 for the injections at a “pumping party” in Philadelphia.
She says Windslowe had silicon in a water bottle and used Krazy Glue to close four injection sites. The dancer said she later suffered serious lung damage and was hospitalized for two weeks.
Police believe Windslowe also injected a 20-year-old London tourist who died last year. No charges have been filed in that death as detectives await extensive autopsy test results.

Man Falsely Convicted For Murder Has Case Overturned After 28 Years

A Washington man can finally rejoice after serving nearly three decades in prison over a murder he was convicted of in 1980. Santae Tribble (pictured), now 51, was found guilty on July 26, 1978, for the murder of a District cab driver due to a strand of hair the FBI found at the scene. After presenting DNA evidence and other documents from police that were never shown during the trial, D.C. Superior Courts overturned the 1980 ruling, according to the Washington Post.

“I’m overjoyed. I always felt like it would happen, but it took so long I started to wonder,” said Tribble to the Post in a phone interview. A video profile shot last month shows the handsome, soft-spoken Tribble explaining the holes in his case and his thankfulness that the case is nearing a close.
While Tribble’s conviction is out of the way and he cannot be tried again for the case, according to the Post, he still has to file papers to exonerate himself completely.
“Mr. Tribble’s struggle for justice is not yet over. He will now seek a certificate of innocence from the court,” said Sandra K. Levick, chief of special litigation for the D.C. Public Defender Service.
Tribble’s case is one of many under investigation for wrong convictions, with the Justice Department acknowledging that the use of DNA evidence and weak testimonies have led to a series of wrongly convicted persons nationwide.

Chuck Brown, The ‘Godfather of Go-Go,’ Dies at 75

The legendary father of Go-Go music, Chuck Brown has passed away at the age of 75, confirmed his manager Tom Goldfogle. As previously reported by NewsOne, the master, affectionately known as “Chuck Baby” had been suffering with pneumonia since being admitted to John Hopkins University Hospital back on April 18.

The always cool and gravelly sounding Brown, whose rhythmic sounds blended funk, soul and Latin music was born in Gaston, N.C. Whereas he spent some time in jail as a young man, when he was released in 1962, he made the decision to pursue his love of music. Washington D.C. served as Brown’s musical inspiration for most of his nearly five decades-plus musical career. After kicking it around with some bands, Brown formed his group the Soul Searchers.
Brown’s first monster hit “Bustin’ Loose” punctuated the go-go sound, dominating the R&B singles chart in 1979. “Bustin’ Loose” was “the one record I had so much confidence in,” Mr. Brown told The Post in 2001. “I messed with it for two years, wrote a hundred lines of lyrics and only ended up using two lines. . . . It was the only time in my career that I felt like it’s going to be a hit.”
After recording more than 20 albums and selling 1.5 million of them, Brown’s biggest smash to date was the classic “Bustin’ Loose,” The back-in-the-day gold chart topper was sampled by rapper Nelly for his 2002 smash “Hot in Herre.” “Bustin Loose” has also been copped by the Washington Nationals baseball team and used as their home run celebratory song.
In 1984 Brown released the smash single “We Need Some Money” a dance floor staple which truly exemplified what Go-Go music was all about, a call-and-response musical style which involves the audience, as well as beats that linked songs so continuously that bands would play long into the night.
Brown was a bandleader, singer, songwriter, producer, musician, who only last year was nominated for his first Grammy Award for his collaboration with songstress Jill Scott on the song “Love.”

Man Uses Heroin To Force Women Into Prostitution

DaJuan Brown

Dajuan Brown is accused of plying women with heroin, then forcing them to work as prostitutes against their will, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The Cook County Sheriff’s office was tipped off by a source about Brown’s alleged illegal prostitution ring in his apartment. Police investigators obtained a warrant after interviewing a few of Brown’s “employees.” The women told authorities that the 35-year-old was not only forcing them to sell their bodies for his monetary gain but that there was also illegal drug activity going on at the residence
When police descended upon Brown’s apartment, two of the women who worked for him were taken from the premises and will be treated by the Sheriff’s Department of Women’s Justice Services (DWJS), a program that enables a multidisciplinary treatment team to quickly identify a female inmate’s immediate needs, then develop individualized treatment and discharge plans for community re-entry. The women who are in the program have non-violent charges.
Brown was immediately taken into custody and charged with 10 counts of involuntary sexual servitude and one count of aggravated human trafficking, both class X felonies, each count punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
Certainly no stranger to the court system, Brown had been arrested 20 times in the past with charges ranging from weapons offenses, armed robbery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Brown is expected to appear in bond court on Wednesday morning to face his charges.
Meanwhile, a similar case occurred last year in Cook County, where a man who was also charged with human trafficking related charges was found guilty and sentenced to 18 years in prison. This was the first conviction of its kind in the county.

Dalglish Sacked As Manager

Kenny Dalglish has been sacked as manager of Liverpool just 16 months into his second spell in charge of the football club.

"After a careful and deliberative review of the season, the club came to the decision that a change was appropriate, the team's US owners said in a statement.
"It was not a decision that was reached lightly or hastily. The search for a new manager will begin immediately."
Dalglish's contract termination comes after he guided the team to a disappointing eighth place in the Premier League.
In response to the announcement, Dalglish said in a statement: "It has been an honour and a privilege to have had the chance to come back to Liverpool Football Club as manager.

"I want to put on record my heartfelt gratitude to Liverpool's fans, who have always given me and the club their unwavering support.
"Without them neither the club nor I would have achieved anything."
Dalglish, who had signed a three-year contract, led Liverpool to their first trophy in six years with the Carling Cup.
He also took the team to the FA Cup final, but fell well short of the owner's target of finishing in the top four of the Premier League.
Sky's Chris Skudder said: "Liverpool is a global brand and its owners want it up high in the league because of the income it can generate."
Owners John Henry and Tom Werner - who also own the Boston Red Sox- parted ways after Dalglish flew to the US for talks on May 14, following Liverpool's finish 17 points behind fourth-place Tottenham.
Problems occurred both on and off the field. He suffered widespread criticism for joining players by wearing a t-shirt in a show of support for Luis Suarez, who had been accused of racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.
He called the Football Association handling of the racism charge a "joke", and in an age of slick images presented to the sport's worldwide fanbase the veteran Dalglish struggled with positive PR.

Luis Suarez (l) received an eight-game ban over racial abuse

In February, tensions with bosses appeared as he apologised for "conduct not befitting of a Liverpool manager" during a TV interview after a league defeat at Manchester United.
"Whilst I am obviously disappointed to be leaving the football club, I can say that the matter has been handled by the owners and all concerned in an honourable, respectful and dignified way," Dalglish said.
"And (it) reflects on the quality of the people involved and their continued desire to move the football club forward in the same way as when they arrived here."
As a football manager Dalglish has won three league titles - one with Blackburn Rovers - two FA Cups and the Carling Cup.
As a player he won numerous honours, including six English league titles and three European Cups.
Although he sacked Dalglish, principal owner Mr Henry praised the outgoing manager.

Kenny Dalglish
Dalglish has won titles as both a player and as a manager

"Kenny will always be more than a championship-winning manager, more than a championship-winning star player.
"He is in many ways the heart and soul of the club. He personifies everything that is good about Liverpool Football Club," he said.
"He has always put the club and its supporters first. Kenny will always be a part of the family at Anfield."
Dalglish returned for a second spell at Liverpool after Roy Hodgson was sacked in January 2011.
:: Earlier, England's new manager Hodgson announced the national team's 23-man line-up for Euro 2012.

Bride Stabbed To Death In Wedding Dress

Arnoldo Jimenez Estrella Carrera composite
Police say there had been violent incidents between Arnoldo Jimenez and Estrella Carrera while they dated

A manhunt has been launched for a groom who is thought to have stabbed to death his young bride in her wedding dress.

Estrella Carrera's body was found in a bathtub just hours after their marriage, still clothed in a short, silver sequin cocktail dress.
Detectives in Chicago say they are hunting Arnoldo Jimenez for the first-degree murder of the 26-year-old shortly after they celebrated with friends in the suburb of Burbank.
"It was a very brutal killing," said Capt Joseph Ford, of Burbank Police. "We do our jobs every day, of course. But something like this really motivates you to work even harder."

We have no indications the two were arguing at any time during the celebration
Police Capt Joseph Ford

Ms Carrera was wearing the cocktail dress at the reception and Capt Ford said it is possible that Ms Carrera was also married in the shimmering dress in which she was killed.
After they were married on Friday afternoon at Chicago's City Hall, the couple had dinner with friends at a restaurant, then headed to a nightclub in a party limousine.
They were last seen at 4am on Saturday. Ms Carrera's body was found in her Burbank flat the following day.
Jimenez, 30, was last known to be driving a 2006 black Maserati. Police say he had a day's start to leave the metropolitan area or even the state.

Police were called when Ms Carrera failed to see her children

Ms Carrera, a mother of two small children, told nearly no one about her plans to get married, inviting only a few friends, without telling them what she was celebrating, her relatives said.
Her body was found after family members became worried they had not heard from her and called police.
Capt Ford said some of those familiar with the couple said there had been incidents of violence during their two years of dating - but added that authorities had not found any records indicating Ms Carrera ever filed a complaint against Jimenez.
"And we have no indications the two were arguing at any time during the (Friday and early Saturday) celebration," he said.

Zuckerberg And Facebook Investors To Cash In

Mark Zuckerberg
Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook from his university residence in 2004
4:55am UK, Thursday May 17, 2012
Dominic Waghorn, US correspondent

In one day tomorrow Mark Zuckerberg could make as much money as Estonia does in a year, on paper at least.

The founder of Facebook stands to increase his net worth by an astronomical sum beyond mortal imagination with the company's flotation on the stock market.
He is not the only one. U2 frontman Bono and his private equity company also stand to make a killing out of the Initial Public Offering (IPO), more than the rock star ever did through music, years after cannily investing in the company early on.
Artist David Choe, who famously took stock instead of cash for painting murals in the first Facebook headquarters, will make an estimated $200m (£126m).

Irish singer Bono
Bono stands to make a significant sum from his Facebook investment

The onomatopoeically named Hong Kong tycoon, Li Kashing, who presumably does not need another $800m (£503m), can expect to make that kind of sum on top of the $22bn (£14bn) he is already worth, because of his early investment in Facebook.
Along with them, a collection of Facebook founders and their friends, investors and bankers will have their bank balances topped up by amounts the rest of us can barely dream of.
One immediate impact it seems has been on property prices in the area where many of them live.
'Facebook IPO is juicing Silicon Valley real estate prices to crazy levels' is the headline in tech website Venturebeat.com.
It reports that "in the last two months Silly Valley is just getting plain ridiculous", with the number of million dollar plus prices up 159% since the IPO announcement.
Much is being made of the culture clash between the Facebook illuminati and Wall Street's Masters of the Universe, who from now will be taking a far closer interest in their business.
One Wall Street analyst recently criticised Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg for not wearing a suit and sporting a hooded sweatshirt instead, branding it "a mark of immaturity".
The comments may have attracted a disproportionate amount of coverage, but they say plenty about the changing dynamics now affecting Facebook and the people running it.
Zuckerberg's success lies in having a brilliant idea and executing it. The mission that has driven the company's management has been simple, enabling people to connect and communicate in a completely new way.
They are now answering to investors and Wall Street - running a business that will require improving performance quarter after quarter to justify its share price.

Man catches landlord pants down with his wife

A GWERU man recently went berserk and severely assaulted his landlord after he allegedly caught him red-handed, pants down, having sex with his wife.

The enraged man landed himself in more problems when the assaulted landlord allegedly retaliated by evicting him from his house.

The man reportedly lost his wife in the process to the landlord.

The incident, which reads more like a movie script, occurred last week at a house along Serima Road in Mambo suburb in Gweru.

The man narrated his ordeal to Chronicle, highlighting how his landlord snatched his wife and evicted him from his house.

He said he intended to sue the landlord for snatching his wife.

"It's a very painful experience to say the least because I did not expect my wife to betray me to that extent. She has been cheating on me, having an extra-marital affair with my landlord. As if that was not enough, when I was evicted for assaulting the landlord after catching him pants down with my wife, she refused to move out with me and remained at the landlord's house," he said.

He said by staying put at the house, his wife had apparently chosen the landlord over him.

The man who, however, indicated that he was no longer interested in re-uniting with his wife of two years, also accused the landlord of unlawfully evicting him.

"I suspect that my landlord and my wife had planned all this. After catching them red-handed in my bedroom, he decided to evict me without giving me any notice. To my surprise, my wife refused to leave and until now she is occupying the same room that we used to have as our lodgings. I am, however, still seeking legal advice on how to tackle this situation," he said.

The wife declined to comment when she was contacted for comment.

The landlord confirmed that he evicted the tenant for "unbecoming behaviour" and dismissed his former tenant's claims that he was in an illicit affair with the wife.

26yrs Old Girl Who Had 26 Abortions

I am 26 years old. I simply got into sex out of ignorance like millions of young people today. My addiction placed me as the highest abortionist in the world at age of 26 and now, I have a sad story to tell.
Until I found myself in a total mess, I never really had any Idea what premarital sex was all about. I never knew it was so useless and killing. Before I got into it, I use to think it was some fun and I dreamt of it more often than not. I wished with all my heart to have a boyfriend whom we would explore it together, little did I know that I was being nasty to myself.

Because of things I see on TV and magazine, I thought having sex was so much fun, I fantasized about it each time I felt lonely. Only if I had known that everything I see in movies and soap operas were just acting and make belief; only if I had known that there is nothing in sex after all, the only thing in it is self destruction; I think my life wouldn’t be this miserable.

It’s a pity i really had to learn the hard way and I really wish I had never been born, I wish I had not come out into this deceitful world where nobody cares about young people, all the so called adults do is how they would play on the intelligence of young people in a bid to exploit and use them to satisfy their insatiable sexual passion. I really feel bad about this wicked world.

My plight started when I was sixteen, then I was still a virgin and in secondary school, I was ignorant of many things but because I see it every day on the TV and internet. More so, a couple of so called Anti AIDS people visited us in school a couple of times for lectures, but all they did was introduce sex to us even more because they really had nothing but condoms to show.

Fine, they told us about AIDS, but at the same time, they also told us about condoms, they never really said anything real about sex, they said we could contact AIDS not through sex, but unprotected sex, which means there was nothing wrong with sex as long as you could use condoms, but all of that I now know very well are lies, and I wonder why men and women would enjoy telling teenagers deadly lies like that.

Even though I can’t blame those people totally for my plight because they weren’t really the ones that said I should go into sex, I still never forgive them for encouraging me and other young people like me into sex with their preaching of protected sex or condom. Even though I wanted to see what sex was really like and I fantasized about it, some were within me, I was still very scared of what may happen to me afterwards if l tried it, and it was that fear that actually kept me away from it until I was sixteen.

By the time I was sixteen, my fantasy had gotten enough boost to express itself with reliance to said to myself one day, “free yourself baby girl, there is nothing terrible in sex, can’t you see everyone is doing it, by the way, you can always use condoms nothing will happen”. So, I finally decided to let go of my fears and embrace in totality my silly fantasies, and that was how I took the very first step into this miserable life of illicit sex. I had absolutely no idea of what I was going into.

I finally agreed to date this guy who had been disturbing me for more than a year, his name was Andrew. Andrew was five years older than me. Both of us began enjoying sex, - we did it every seconds, every minute; - I became addicted that I do not love doing it with condom anymore. Within the period, I had 14 abortions for Andrew, and not only that, I cheated on him in several occasions, I felt doing it with other guys will give me better sensation but all were the same.

My school teacher got me and at the end of the day I had 6 abortions for him. And worst among was my sexual affairs with my close relations, which resulted to 5 abortions. Then I felt I was at the top of the world. I will never forgive my friends who introduced me into partying and sleeping with old men with potbelly and rough skin only in the name of sex.

Right now, all those men have gone, and then shadow of my past sexual life still follows me around. All this pills and tablets I took are now telling on my blood stream. At times I felt like committing suicide each time I remember what the doctor told me, “Tessy, I am sorry, your womb is automatically damaged on account of the several abortion you had”, “I’m sorry, you will never conceive again in your life, but just thank God, you don’t have HIV or AIDS”.

I therefore, advise every young girl reading this piece today, to over look every fantasy towards sex. Sex is good but it has time. And that is in marriage. Keep yourself away from men. Make friends with those who mean good for your future.
